As Anguish Ascends
Where are you?
I search for your voice
in each broken silence.
Things don't sound like they used to.
Where are you?
I cry out for you and it echoes
in the hollows of the space between you and I.
I’m trapped in my own mind,
in this prison that you created for me.
Where are you?
I lost your love,
I don't think you ever gave it to me anyways.
It was never mine to keep and
always yours to have.
You’re gone.

I written this poem after a recent close relationship of mine had fallen through. I wrote this specifically about a close friends but it could but these same emotions could be felt about anyone’s love you lost.
