birth of a gentle soul

listen to the silence that follows each breath of wind
trace the paths of the tired leaves as they let go of their trees
and drift down to the earth from which they came
make each flower feel that it was worth it
to leave the safety of the warm soil
and risk revealing themselves to the world
be like these flowers
watch carefully, grow slowly
and when the cold air ceases to blow
peek your head out from beneath your veil
and let your colors brighten the winter-weakened earth
