Four Little Dogs

Four little dogs rattle at my feet,

Two doors till darkness.

Blonde streaks swivel in a circle of empty

Liquid chocolate fizzles in my teeth

She doesn’t want any

But she has many

Four little dogs scream in the mirror

The fanta is sweeter than the ginger it came from,

I like it.

He wants her

She wants him

More are together

No one cares about each other

Four little dogs scratching at the marble

The shotgun fires, one, two, three times then fades

The fruit tickles my throat, but it gets thicker

Four little dogs shake rocks in my head

My brain blurs and melts like butter

I don’t want to remember.

Heads spinning in the bedroom,

Knees twitching on the couch

Black out.

Four little dogs asleep on the moon,

The bowls fly by with rice, white and red

She’s out.

He’s gone.

They’re together.

I have to go
