A Memory Carved in Stone
I remember the thrill of using imagination
And the home which I used to fuel my creation
For outside that apartment which I used to roam
A castle of wood held knights welding foam.
This castle I owned with friends of many
was one that would defend against plenty.
For years we guarded the castle from foes
Welding elements we forged from a large gray stone.
We had some good times as we laughed and we cried
But after a while I was forced to say goodbye.
Eight years had passed when I visited that place
But my castle of wood now had a new face.
A playground was all I thought I could see
Until I passed by a rock near a very old tree.
That gray rock we had used to play our game
Had a message this tree had shielded from rain.
Tears filled my eyes at this message of hope
Written by friends I knew, long long ago.
