Sunflower

Choppily, the wind blows in the crowded field.

It slides in between the petals of the sunflower

They sway gracefully

As if the sunflower was dancing

The wind has passed and it’s  time for the epoch

The sound of pitter patter on the petals

As the drop glissades onto my hand

Some of the seeds tumble off

To spread remotely elsewhere.

The epoch leaves which brings

Velutinous cold and

A wave of aversion

To the sunflowers.

The frigid brings creamy snow

And snow brings bloodless sunflowers.

The sunflowers are soldiers

They endeavor with all their might

But it’s too impenetrable

Spring Undulation

The soil has matured fertile

The sunflowers are stouthearted

A small fix in the field

Holds an immature seed

This seed has been in many residences

As you can see

The seed will replicate someone just like me

The immature seed is forsaken

But not for long

The wind brings more brothers and sisters

Right along to me

As the days pass on

Budding inch by inch

The seeds sprout

And form many beautiful

Sunflowers.

Sunflower

This poem was inspired by my study of sustainability and plants. It is intended to get readers to think about the ways plants and flowers spread and how the environment can affect them.  Hopefully, this will make people engage in more environmental activities.
