A Scene of Serene

I rest

on my soft seat

Sunlight crawls into my room-

seeping through my light blue curtains

I glance out

through my window

Palm trees

swaying to the rhythm of the wind

I hear the wind

blowing its gentle breath

The smell of lavender

fills the air

A scent of peppermint

cuts through the cool air

My worries float away

Like balloons

The buzz of the air conditioner interrupts me

My gaze

veers upward

To the speckled ceiling

Where I am

confronted

With dainty dangling feathers

My fingers graze the book

They feel every groove the cover contains

The smell of the book-

Reminding me

of a musty book shop

Silence fills the room

My heartbeat

pounds rhythmically

I am at peace at last.
