Alive
The mist sprays my face as I look toward the sea.
The ocean is calm.
The waves are peaceful, yet rolling gently.
It is minutes after dawn,
The sun, not yet blinding, casts its light upon the waters
Causing it to shimmer and dance.
I am alone.
And yet, I am not alone.
Below the waves dwell millions of creatures
Small and large, red and green,
And every shade and hue in between.
The underbelly of the ocean is teeming with life
And I, being mortal and aware,
Feel a solemn responsibility to protect it.
