The Life of a Gymnast

The chalk on your thighs,
The tears in your eyes,
All be worthwhile when you learn to fly.

The thrill lasts for minutes,
While training takes years,
The victory is worth all the hard work and tears,
When you stand on the podium all stress disappears.

Though gold medals and high scores seem so great,
They don’t matter as much as the memories you create.
The tricks you learn don’t have much value,
It’s the life-lessons that show how much you matter.

So, with chalk in your hair and blood on your hands,
Remember that gymnastics is more than the torn rubber bands
Your learned passion and dedication will help you succeed,
And the friendships you made will be cherished indeed.

I am currently a competitive gymnast training level nine. This piece represents all the hardwork and determination shown by gymnasts, as well as the importance of the life-lessons and memories created at the gym.
