After the Rain
After the night’s downpour,
I sit outside in a lawn chair,
Taking in the scenery of my backyard.
The beaming sun that was hidden during the rainstorm
Now shines brightly through the clouds,
Lighting up the world below.
Emerald-green leaves of trees
Rustle in the cool wind.
Filling the air with a symphony of chirps and tweets,
Various birds sing their songs of the early morning.
Leaving the shelter of their burrows, small critters
Prance through the rich vegetation and purple flowers on the sloping hill.
Puddles are settled on the concrete,
Reflecting images of the blue sky and towering trees above.
The laughter of children can be heard in the distance,
Along with some faint music.
Everyone is coming out of their home to experience the sunny weather after the rain.
