Superstitious Nonsense
The world’s best seller.
6 copies in my house,
My 2 copies sat, collecting dust.
Everytime I…
Wished on a star,
Avoided walking under a ladder,
Or found a lucky penny.
They would say,
“Who taught you that?
It’s superstitious nonsense.”
But everytime they opened that book
I’d whisper to myself
“Who taught you that?
It’s superstitious nonsense.”

This poem is about how I feel about religion my reaction to the bible and religion. The people talking to me in the poem are not my parents but others in my life. My inspiration for this poem came from many different experiences. Like the time I avoided walking under a ladder at my mother’s friends house and I overheard her talking about how I was superstitious and she basically called me a devil worshiper. How my grandmother wouldn't let me watch harry potter because those movies were “signs of the devil”. Also how my step-father told me there was no such thing as luck only blessings from god.
