Imagine this:

A girl with depression and anxiety

Who cuts and thinks suicide

Who gets bullied

By everyone around her

Whos friends don’t help for fear of the same fate (getting bullied too)

Who cries late at night

When she's all alone

No one will be there for her

When she needs to be supported the most

When she finally decides to do it

And nearly fails

Imagine this:

A boy who is a bully

Who gets bullied at home

Who fears his parents

Because they are drunks and beat him

Who wants to feel power at school

So he bullies this girl

And when she doesn’t show up one day

He begins to worry

A month passes, she's still gone

He goes to the counselors office

To ask about her

They tell him that she's gone

Dead

That she commited suicide

He feels guilty

His eyes tear up

The next day he doesn’t show up for school

And he never shows up again

Imagine this:

The girl’s parents cry

A few days after her death

They call her school and tell them

What happened

They tried to move on but they can’t

Soon they get a divorce

Their only child was gone

And so would they

Imagine this:

The boy’s dad started abusing his wife

Cuz his son wasn’t there to take his anger

Soon he drank too much and killed his wife

He went on trial for murder

And a few days later he went to jail

Not feeling guilty at all

Imagine this:

The girl’s friends were upset and felt guilty

Because they never helped her

Though they knew she was cutting and depressed and bullied

But they did nothing to help

Even though they knew

That they had plenty of chances to help her

They did nothing

Guess they were never really truly friends

Imagine this:

The boy’s friends couldn’t figure it out

Why he killed himself

For they knew he had all the power he wanted

Though they never knew what went on at his house

They didn’t care either

They went on with life as they always have

And still bullied

Imagine this:

The school decided to raise awareness

For those who are depressed

For those who have anxiety

For those who are bullied

For those with no friends

For anyone and everyone

They put up posters everywhere

In the cafeteria and counselors office

In classrooms and hallways

They even made a school website on it

For all

Everyone

Anyone can ask for help

Where you talk/text

And no one will know your name unless if you state it

On that website

Imagine this:

It becomes popular after a year

A year of being lame

Teens use it, even adults

They tell their stories

On the website

The bullying almost comes to a halt

They make friends

And life gets a little easier

For others are helping each other

So their lives get better

So their lives get easier

On that website

That helped

All because of two suicides

And more.

Imagine this:

Life doesn't really work that way

We keep doing the same things

Over and over again and again

Do we ever really try to help

Do we ever try to change things

Change for the better

Imagine this:

We learn from the hurt

And we hurt others

We follow in each others footsteps

When we should make our own

We put each other down

We put dreams down

We higher expectations

If we could imagine this

if this is reality

Why dont we change

Help

Fix everything broken that crosses our paths

But we are scared

Or too lazy

And in this way

We don't learn

But they teach us history

It'll only repeat

Unless we do something

And we should

WE CAN

Don't tell yourself you can not

The author's comments:

This piece is meant to help people see that the world is not what it seems. That we all have the ability to help, to fix, but not all of us make the choice to do so. It is about bullying, depression, suicide, but also hope, hope for a better future, one with less hurt. If we show each other love, its like, "what goes around comes back around." If someone hurts you, don't take it out on that person or someone else, just try to understand their veiw, or why they did what they did. Be the person to spread joy.
