You Got it Backwards
For a bad hair day
when you’re too late to fix it
For springtime,
with light colored jeans
on a Friday night
For when you’re tired,
and flip it around in traffic
on that
long
way
home,
just ‘cause
When you’re heading out the screen door,
mother yelling out your curfew
escaping to your friend’s rusty car
Just riding off into the night
For all these things
During despair, and during flings,
Wearing a baseball hat backwards

We had to write a poem in class using one line from a pre-existing poem, and the line I used was “wearing a baseball hat backwards”
