Do I offend you

Do I disgust you

Do I make you want to vomit

Do I make you want to puke

Do I scare you

Do I look sick

Do I look like cancer

Do you want to eradicate me

Do you want to find a cure

Do you think I am scared of you

Do I seem like a mutation

Do you think I am a disease

Do I act contagious and malignant

Do you think you are the only one who has called me a disease

Do you think you are original

Do you think I have not learned how to fight

Do you think I am killing my host with my cancer

Do you think I am a murderer

Do you look at me like you would look at a murderer

Do I look like a perversion

Do you tell your children I am a perversion

Do you want to slam me again into the same category as porn and prostitution and drugs

Do you know the difference between love, prostitution, porn and drugs

Do you watch porn, do drugs and hire prostitutes because you want to understand love

Does love scare you

Do you know what love is

Do you love anybody

Do you love your children

Do you love your children enough to make sure I do not to infect them with my disease

Do you love your children

Do you love your child

Do you love your infected child

Do you love me because I am your child

Do you love me because I am your daughter

Do you love me even though I am sick

Do you love me even though I am being devoured inside and out

Do you love me because I am your blood

Do you love me at all

Do I dare question your love

Do I dare contemplate these questions in my sleep

Do I dare sleep

Do I dare dream

Do I dare hope

Do I dare wish

No

Because I am a disease

Because I am a mutation

Because I am incurable

Because I cannot be fixed

Because I cannot be unbroken

Because I do not want to be fixed

Because I love her

The author's comments:

I was going through a rough time period when I wrote this poem in terms of finding acceptence towards my sexuality and I wrote it out of anger and fustration. Most of the the questions in this poem are things that have acually been said to me and writing this poem was my way of expressing the impact it had on the views myself and how I think some people percieve me.
