Seventeen
Weird,
I just had to laugh
It made me less scared;
Just a seventeen year old
Almost an upper middler
Transitioning into the responsibilities
Of war.
Soon to be soldiers
No longer lower status
Now,
We have earned respect.
Concentration and excitement
We were maturing,
Tasks were hardening
Like jumping,
From tree to tree,
Only traveling further
From games we had played;
Tag
It’s your turn to go,
Time for war soldier.
