The Evening Wolf
The man slept in his bed dreaming
Of a better life than the one he has
He woke up with a jolt, screaming
And faces the wolf who laughs
Your life will never be better
It howled at him
Every night you dream of a lie
You’re stuck to the ground
Little bird you will never fly
The man tried to look away
But he was stuck in its eyes
He wanted to move
But the wolf told him
There’s no use
You’re a failure
You’re a loser
A user
A drug abuser
Life hates people like you
You’re stuck to the ground
Little bird you will never fly
The man looked down and saw
A chain connected from his wrist
To the neck of the wolf
They were tethered
He tried to pull it off
The wolf growled
You won’t ever
Were stuck together forever
Till the day you die
You’re stuck to the ground
Little bird you will never fly
