Poisonous Sea
Oh how I was once fascinated
by the waves against the shore,
before pollution painted the ocean floor.
Oh how ocean pollution is a major qualm
and the ocean floor is as colorful as a palm,
corrupted with metal cans and plastic bags,
causing the marine life to literally “gag”.
Oh how sea life fears death,
as they take their last and final breath,
choking on bottle caps
lathered in oil
and wrapped in plastic.
Oh how the plastic in the animals’ stomachs make them decay,
washing up onto shore,
with only plastic left galore.
One day we will wonder where the magnificent sea creatures are.
Oh how I was once fascinated
by the waves against the shore,
before pollution painted the ocean floor.
