Ode to My Summer Vacation
Those bright, hot sunny days.
Hearing the laughter of kids playing.
Hanging with friends under the shade,
Drinking ice cold water to keep you hydrated.
The joy of going out with no worries.
The fun late night drives with all the windows rolled down.
The happiness you get from planning your next adventure.
Sadly it always comes to an end.
But not yet, here comes your plane ride to your next destination.
Waking up in Mexico,
how beautiful my summer can be.
As we stroll through the plaza with melting helados,
the sun waves to us.
Evening cooling down the whole town,
fiestas are getting good.
But now in my hometown
Summer vacation is waving goodbye.
Not before telling me, “I’ll be back soon, my dear.”
Now I wait
like the grandfather clock waits to strike at 12.
But the memories,
my sweet summer memories,
will always be here with me.
Oh my dear summer how nice you’ve been,
Fare Thee Well.
