The House in the center of the Street
I am from the house in the center of the street,
the house in the center of a lonely street. The house where I learned to walk,
talk, prance and play.
I am from the house in the middle of the others,
the house my mother loved, and my father loathed. The house with the stench of a wood burning stove surrounded us like a warm, weathered blanket.
I am from the house distant from my family and friends
The house alone in the darkened woods. The house where the only light was that reflected off the cool creek in the springtime.
