I think....
I think...
He asks me,
"What's going on in that pretty head of yours?"
I think of the universe and the infinite amount of alternative realities I could live in
I think about how unkind life is to the girls smarter than me
Who deserve an education but do not go to school
Because they must fulfill their duty as child brides
I think of the insensitive prejudices that many people face
All because bigots cannot accept their race religion orientation or gender
I think about the irony of pressuring myself to live up
My own high expectations and later procrastinating important work
I think of the fact that time is an illusion
Yet I fear the day when I have none left
I think about how we began as stardust
And we will die united with the earth
I smile nicely and say,
"Nothing much."
