I AM FROM...
I am from a place that all you hear is people laughing and playing outside.
From a sweet smell of honey and pancakes in the morning.
From a day full of laughter, sarcasm, and barks.
From where you hear music in the streets until midnight.
I am from carne asada (roast) almost every Sunday.
From the world’s best, homemade enpanadas.
From eating pasta at least 5 days a week.
From having turkey every Christmas.
I am from “¿Si lo busco y lo encuentro que te hago?” (If I look for it and I find it what do I do?).
From “Karitia!!”
From “¿Y mi beso?” (and my kiss).
From “¿Y a quien le pediste permiso, acaso te mandas sola, o que?” (And to whom did you ask permission, perhaps you send yourself, or what)
I am from spending the entire day at my grandparents’ house.
From friends that encourage me to do better.
From siblings that make me laugh when I’m upset.
From parents that would do anything to see me succeed.
