I am from
I am from a tree-lined avenue leading to a tranquil, safe place that I call home.
From a house that wakes early, in a practiced rhythm, with the rise of the morning sun.
From the aroma of a delicious breakfast wafting upstairs.
From the sound of a grand piano as I get lost in Mendelssohn’s songs without words.
I am from a celebration cake, full of chocolate and love, passed on through many generations.
From watching with anticipation as the homemade bread rises before our family Thanksgiving feast.
From special moments with my dad ordering egg white grills and iced coffee on the way to the barn.
From last-minute breakfast tacos in the car as my mom races to bring me from one place to the next.
I am from, “There’s a consequence for every action.”
From, “Work harder.”
From, “See you at the top.”
From, “Phone calls ending in love you, bye.”
I am from a blended family, a community based on love, laughter, and friendship.
From an environment where four-legged friends offer all the companionship and support I need.
From late night dominoes with my great grandmother, a woman I adore.
From Jane, my horse trainer, who sees the potential in me and from the Stables’ team who are there to share in my dreams and pick me up when I fall.
