She thought she’d try to fly across

The sky or from the perch again,

But there was certainly a

Trapping reason

For the fearful, the unopened wings.

With a brave strengthening soul,

She took a slight step forward,

Continuing to contemplate the edge;

The edge of a branch she sought to

soar from.

With a long deep breath

Her chest puffed out and rose,

Rising like bread baking in the oven.

With a wave of fresh air

Her heart began to sing,

Singing with purity and strength.

And not long after

The wings opened up,

Opening like the gates of Heaven,

And some feathers glimmered.

I gently touched the soft feathers, in no rush,

No rush for

flourishing.

I stayed there for awhile, observing

and soothing her; she wasn’t scared

And I enjoyed brushing the wings.

It was a sign of my hope, those wings.

When she jumped, I found, inside of her nest,

A tiny egg, part of her strength,

An egg to be nurtured until developed;

And I placed it in my palms

And held it there for some time-

The wings of life within my palms.

I wrote this poem to portray the message that any fear can be overcome through finding inner strength, confidence, and bravery. The theme of feminine strength is also seen within the piece.
