Indestructible
I wish I could be
The plant in my house
That somehow grows through the concrete floor
Indestructible
Yet soft
Who somehow understands
How to navigate
Through the solid rock
That you and I cannot.
I wish I could be
The songbird in the winter
Whose bones could snap under the weight of mine
But is so strong
Flying above us all
Whistling with it's persistance and sorrow
Indestructible
Yet soft
It knows that someday
It will it find it's way home.
I wish I could be
Like you
With your hard outer shell
And tough exterior
You know that if you had to
You could take on the world
But really
On the inside you are soft
And no one
Is indestructible
