THE MOURNFUL HYMN
THE LION’S MANE
                     After Anna Swir

My essence, you are a lion
whose aggressive, yet compassionate attitude
is out of the love and respect.
The courage and confidence that course through you
are unmatched.
The fur that adorns your back,
showing your true spirit and culture.
You may become for me, a passage
to my best self
to which I refer at times of distress
and need.
A flowered, beautiful passage to self-value
and worth.
My body, you are a lion
whose passion is strong
and whose ambition is true.

I was initially inspired by Anna Swir's poem: Talking to my Body. The beautiful images she conveyed really led me to craft my own piece. I hope others can read this and learn to appreciate themselves and whatever they stand for and believe in.
