Continues in the Dark
A flash appears
Outside the window
In the dead of night.
Quickly followed by a rumble.
Pitter Patter,
Pitter Pattering,
Continues in the dark
Keeping the only pair of eyes open.
Those eyes are filled so many emotions
Yet the bearer is frozen
Clutching onto their forsaken pillow.
Could they scream?
Could they break free of the invisible bounds?
They don’t know.
They are too scared.
Even though they know
That nothing could possibly hurt them.
They still tremble in their bed.
Staring out the window
While the darkness of the bedroom
And the beady eyes of their dollies and teddies stare right back.
Fearing that maybe a monster may sneak out from under the bed
Or maybe a killer will break in and bring on their demise
Or maybe even a ghost will haunt them.
Either way, they are still stuck.
Pitter Patter,
Pitter Pattering,
Continues in the dark.
