Dear Quincy Jones,
You're crazy.
You've fought in warzones and this is what's crazy.
Head's up it's your next mission,
but if you want want my advice, be you.
She's a nutjob,
but here she is choosing you and only you.
That must mean something.
Be you.
Sure she knows hat she's getting into, but
It might take her some getting used to.
Still I must tell you,
Be you.
Don't let yourself think you'll scare her or let her scare you.
Let it be an adventure
Like every drive to and from Chattanooga.
Be you.
I'm hesitant, not for my mom but for me.
I go through this journey too.
And I'm scared like hell,
but be you.
Men have come and gone numerous times since 2005.
Dropping these walls may take a while.
Seeing as I've had 13 years to perfect them.
Be you.
To a soldier, from a woman's daughter,
I can't say I'm not a battle of my own.
All I can tell you for me to comfortable is,
Be you.

This is a poem I wrote to my mother's new boyfriend. I've struggled in accepting this part of my mother's life so it took a lot out of me to write this; however, it needed to be said.
