The Little Pink Blanket
Fresh out of the womb
In a room full of joy
The doctors clean her off
They wrap her up in a blanket
The little pink blanket
In a little green house
At the end of Woodlands Avenue
She takes her first steps
Holding it in one hand
It will never leave her side
Off to school she goes
First day of middle school
It’s a big day
She has to have it
Its shoved in her bag
She throws her blanket in her basement
Locked away for years
Until one day, she grows older
She finds the little pink blanket
That reminds her of every accomplishment
From graduations from elementary school
To heartbreaks from stupid boys
She always had comfort
From one thing
The little pink blanket
