Pressure
When you feel that first pressure
Of trying to fit in,
Things start to spiral.
Pressure
To go out just once.
Pressure
To take just one hit.
Pressure
To try just one pill.
But “just one” is never enough,
And the pressure becomes heavier
Until it’s “just finish the blunt”
And “it's not that big a deal”
And eventually
Pressure
To be happy all the time
Pressure
To succeed in school.
Pressure
To be a good role model.
Becomes too much
Until the only thing that takes the pressure off
Is the pressure that got you going
in the first place.

My name is Ashlyn, I've moved around a lot throughout my life, and I am a sophmore in highschool now. My parents have never been together, and the new father figures havent been the best. I've always turned to activities such as writing to spill out emotions that I have trouble explaining to people. Sometimes stronger influences cloud my judgement into doing things that may not be in my best interest. But I am learning to stay strong and remain healthy.
