Back by popular demand
Judgement and useless advice are past around the table like turkey on Thanksgiving
quality time spent with family
We leave the restaurant each one flaming red with irritation
Devil horns have materialize on each of us
each a boxer fighting in the ring till are death
Our evening tainted by bitterness
As we sit in this theatre
with ecstatic conversation circling us
however, we lie in silence
Tension lurking, weighing on our shoulder, following us around like a gloomy smog
All of a sudden lights dim
like the sun is setting
The opera rings in the opening scene
as if the heavens would open up and a angel would appear
The Narrators voice
vociferously occupies the room
“A long time ago”
The next two hours I will dive into an alternative universe
full of flashy lights, show tunes and radiant costumes
When the cast take their final bows
round two of our boxing match will commence
We all had such a great time
Maybe we’ll come again
If they ask us back by popular demand
