When Winter Ends
The snow whispered to me in mouse voice
Frozen secrets long forgotten
Heard in between the icy drifts
Legends of the frost, buried in snow.
Long passed are such dark winter days
The skies lay plagued with precipitation
I listen close to the gentle snow
Nothing is there, nothing is there
No more does winter talk to me
My calls deafened by the rain
Silence strikes this december day
Heated passion melts the snow
The elements consume me,
Winds of change scrape my neck,
Tears flow with the rain, reckless,
Nature bellows back.
Lost in the noise I feel
The presence of snow on my nose and
hear a little voice whisper in my ear
Everything is ok.

This poem was written as part of a school project in which poem ideas were "auctioned" off. I was given the first line of the poem along with some other basic information in order to write this piece.
