Sugar and Spice Makes Everything Nice
I am from dark long curly hair, attitudes, and peanut butter pie
I am from the gators in your backyard, chocolate and spices, it felt familiar
I am from the chives to the crab oil, and I am from the red residue left on your fingers
I am from the barnacles, and the chaos, from Janet and Eddie and the Kreamer’s
I am from the drama queens and short fuses
I am from the keep your head up, and smile pretty
I’m from the sinners to the saints, the strawberry city bratwurst and enchiladas
From the flying spoons, thrown from the matriarch with perfect aim
I am from the wall filled with past generations of those who mean the most
I am from the red, black, and yellow; and the green, red, and white to now the red, white, and blue.
