A Great Expanse

My arms are like wings across the sand
Running and running; I never wanna land
And yet the world is spinning too fast
But if I’m here with you
I think it’ll last
I look up at the sky
The stars murmur whispers
And I reach for them just to try
And everything’s blurry
But let’s just stay like this; there’s no hurry
Just a little longer
Because right now every breath I take is a memento of you
Until our short-lived schoolyard love falls through.
