These Streets
Now, I know shit ain’t always been the easiest for alla yall growing up ou there in these streets
But yall can never lose sight of what you believe in
Cause life can change in an instint and it'll kill me to see one of you, on the other side of one of those bullets
And I know we don’t all come from the same Momma but I swear I’ll love you as if we do
Cause we go this power inside of us so let's show them that we ain’t some fools and that we could really do
Cause we got dreams and we got ideas, and we got damn near an entire plan to fix this f***ed up ridiculed system because I know for a fact that none of yall are just some fools chilling out here on a random ass avenue
So man, why not just stand up, come up here, and stand with me too
But I, don't get me wrong, I know change fasholy ain’t gone come that easy
But all I know is that all the shit we been up through recently ain’t always the most pleasing
It hurts, knowing that there are kids from our beloved city who are now just being barely released for some fake ass petty felonies
And even more, I know evermore that we are trapped in the system going on repeat, on repeat, on repeat...
No leaving us with many or any options
Trust me, I know that there are kids out here in these streets without homes, living life as if they own a sign saying “I’ve been put up for adoption”
This town been changing, all the ones I once loved been getting pushed out posting up with these big ass captions claiming: they miss the way it used to be when babies could be out late, past the time the street lights turned on, house doors unlocked with cartoons playing 24/7
I do believe we gotta tell them that, that shit don't fly around here, that we the ones out here going through war, fighting for schools, not prisons
Yet, it been feeling like we ain’t even being heard
Yall just think that we the ones out here “f***ing up America” but yall don’t ever give us the chance to truly answer
But yeah, I know shit be hard, school ain't easy, and the system be unfair
Cause all they be tryna do is delay us and even worse:
obtain us, kidnap us, suspend us, and lock us up for some dumb shit we ain’t even do
They take the easy way out cause they ain’t ever lived a hard day in their life so who are you, to tell us what to do?
Stop, do not for a second longer hold us back from our dreams by throwing shame upon us
Shit, don’t get me wrong but I too know life be hard so don’t what I’m tryna say twisted
Just understand that this government out here is a system of cats out here who be mad wicked
tryna get us to f*** up and become locked up, become addicted to our madness within
Never again, being able to escape from the fake realisticness they hypnotize us to believe simply because they don’t want us to achieve and dream
They be tryna take control over you, flipping the script, changing your future and forcing you to transform into their new victim:
stuck on welfare never given a real way out, only ensuring fake promises from the top down year after year, swearing on their election podiums and nominees
Never realizing us poor people are trapped within these here streets of defeated
Show them that you can indeed achieve your dreams and make it out these streets

I have recently had a family friend of mine killed. He grew up in the streets and never graduated high school because he got too heavily involved in a gang. He took his own life on a Saturday night, alone. I do not usually write in this rap type but rap was his favorite music; this unique piece is inspired by him and the possible change that needs to be seen.
