Just a Backpack
I am a backpack
Worn on your back, to carry your materials
Trusted to keep it safe
And to keep everything in place
Most importantly I’m trusted
I can be as light as a feather
Or so heavy you hit the floor
But whatever you put on me
Make sure I can handle it
If not my straps might rip
And the zippers will slip
Once months go by
I get worn down and beat after handling your baggage
And I know it sounds rough
But I’m tough enough
You begin to have doubts
You don’t know how to sew
You want out
So I’m thrown
Never to be used again
My purpose has expired
I wasn’t ready to retire
