Just Talk
I can tell in your text that you don’t want me too.
When you say sure or ok, you don’t really approve.
You tell me yes when you want to say no.
Just say no. That way when I get home,
there isn’t the awkward silence,
We wouldn’t feel the guilt of not speaking up
and telling each other what we really wanted.
Can’t we just talk?
The way you and dad do when something is on you mind.
Or you and the stranger wearing the green apron
behind the coffee machine.
But I suppose everyone talks to them.
Perfectly familiar and anonymous.
Maybe I’ll wear a green apron.
Maybe that will help.
Maybe.

With this piece I wanted to call atention to the fact that people often do not say what is on their mind. People, for some reason decide to drop subtle hints that they are not satified with the situation in hopes that the other person will change accordingly. Whether it is with a friend, parent, or significant other, we have all been in this situation. The person does not tell you that they are un happy but it is clear as day that they are.
