Faith Couldn't be Found
His smile was melted chocolate.
It warmed her chest and made her smile every time she watched him.
He carefully listened to her and offered advice when she dealt with her problems.
His eyes lit up as easily as a candle, each time she smiled.
She never wanted to look away from his bright personality.
But she knew what would happen, like all the times before.
She will never get to be with him.
Her friends will find the perfect person,
someone who cares over the moon about them.
But she isn't like them.
Her hope was a sparkler, it fizzled out after time.
As it grew older, her hope grew weaker,
Worn out from too much use.
She had no chance.
She took steps backward, one at a time.
The clock was ticking, but she knew in her heart she couldn't make it.
Why try?
Now, her hope was the size of a single speck of dust, she could not muster enough of it.
All the doubt surrounded her confidence, slowly closing in.
