Heartbreak
Heartbreak is a stubborn thing.
The only cure is to
wait.
That wait sucks.
It can feel like minutes or hours but really,
it’s been months.
So you’ll wait
and wait
and wait
and wait.
Until there's a day where that’s not quite so rough.
You’ll say
“Hey, it’s over! The damage is done!”
But then you’ll hear that name
Turn your head at just the right time
See something you shouldn't have seen,
Your friends will tell you to turn the other way.
“It’s nothing” You say, and insist you’re fine.
But...
They all know better.
That smile was fake,
the wave you gave was half hearted
They know your soul is about to break.
