A Summer Camp Trip

Around first or second grade

I was on a trip

with my summer camp.

To a nature place with animals and food.

There we tasted different foods,

Pizza, Smores and Bread

all cooked on a coal fire.

All of them tasting better than the last,

the burnt being the best part of each.

We were almost done,

So I went to through away my trash

and when I was walking back I tripped and fell,

landing my right hand into burning coals.

It burned, every part feeling a searing pain,

It felt as if my hand was being cooked.

The outside of the coals stuck to my hand

the counselors rushed me to the bathroom

cool water washing away the coal

relieving the searing pain,

the rest of the time there,

my hand in a bucket of cold water.

My Mom got there quick,

she rushed me to the doctors to get treatment.

Once there my hand had to come out of the water,

It burned a lot.

Though when all was said and done,

My hand felt better,

Wraped and bangged like a mummy.

Not to be used until the end of summer.

That summer I didn’t learn much,

though as a result

I’m always more careful

as I wish I could have been that day.

This was a story from when I was younger and I thought that this story would be good for this project and an overall good story for this.
