"I'm really just my own corporation of characters. Don't expect to find the real me underneath all this."- David Bowie

The entirety of my skin floats in his ocean white water

My beautiful,yet intangible safety

But this was my home, this pool of love is my sea.

With every shipwreck, the sailors inside sing prepossessing hymns of agony

Because my love has no achor,

Even when I saw the iceberg ahead.

But I trust he won’t let me drown

‘cus when he does,

I’ll let myself suffocate in his sweet nothings, because I want  to.

Then I'll let his tidal waves cradle me into sleep

Because I expect my life raft to hit the shore by sunrise.

But until then every drop that stings my nose

I will inhale like the sweetest of flowers, then let the chlorine corrode my throat

Because if I don’t, I can’t hold back the sailors melodious cries that ring symphonies in his ear,

just like sirens,

luring you to a shipwreck.

But It’s ok, because he loves me.

I’m almost at the wall.

My fingers practically grazing its edge.

He does love me.

But when I stand up, I realize, I went too deep.

My feet don’t touch because it's not my pool anymore

Its his unruly sea of shipwrecks

The promising pearls of white tile are no longer at my feet to support me,

He let me drown.

That’s what it’s like to love him.

The author's comments:

I wrote this peice after a breakup. It was very hard for me to get over him and writing has always been an outlet for me. Till this day I still love him but life moves on and people learn to move with life. We will forever have the memories even if they hurt, you'll look back and laugh.
