The Love I Had For You
The words I love you
Slid off your tongue faster
Than ice cream melting in the hot
Summer sun
I said it back hoping I’d feel the same over time
And I did
Time went on and things between us became
A broken record
Listening to the same song over and over again
But not being able to change it
We were like an unfinished puzzle
A piece was always missing
In the end I needed to do what was best for me
