Nothing But Everything At Once
Early In The Morning,
When Everything is Quiet, And the Coffee Is Yet To Brew.
Before The Sun Rises Up Over The Horizon.
I Wondered If You Heard It Too?
Close Your Eyes.
Lingering There; Thinking.
Louder And Louder.
Now Open them.
Maybe It Was My Imagination Or A Dream,
Somehow I Doubted That.
I Couldn't Sleep Anymore So I Sit Alone In The Dark.
And When I Couldn't Sit Anymore, I Would Wander Aimlessly
Going Nowhere Particular.
Just Getting Lost In Thought.
Finally, The Sun Would Tip The Roots Of Trees, And I Would Make My Way Home,
Following The Soft Buzz Of Blown Street Lights,
Stumbling Around The Broken Sidewalks with Dandelions Growing In The Cracks.
Empty Parking Lots And The Faint Flickering Of Gas Station Neon Signs Saying: Closed/Open.
Stray Cats plunder through Diner Dumpsters for leftover Food.
The World Seems Frozen In This Time.
Cold And Almost Grey.
Abandoned.
And As I Took The Steps Up To The Front Door, I Could Hear It Again.
It’s Persistent, Fading In And Out.
Could You Hear It Too?
In Sudden Silence, It’s Gone.
