Seasons of Wisconsin
Slush: Springtime slush splashes thick mud on my drenched feet.
Puddles: Playful puddles spread, like puzzle pieces children love.
Rain: “Rain, rain, go away. Come again some other day.”
Ice: Thick ice melts like a rolling raging river.
New leaves: Buds bloom on the trees like a newborn baby taking his first breath.
Grow: In fragrant flowers, green grass, and rushing rivers, nature comes to life.
Sunbathe: Under the sizzling sun, we swim, ski and make s’mores.
Umbrella: I find protection from the scorching sun, like a mama bear protects her cubs.
Muskies: Sizzling Friday fish fries and oil clog my pores.
Mosquitoes: The menacing, miserable critters storm off the water looking for blood.
Endless sunsets: At nightfall on the lake, we relax under the breathtaking sunsets.
Rolling Rivers: Kayaking, fly fishing, hearing jet boats rush by the cabin on the Wisconsin River.
Apple Picking: Walking through the colorful leaves, perfect, precious apples are picked.
Unpredictable: Ever changing weather, like an Indian Summer.
Thanksgiving: We spend time together with family, giving thanks.
Untouched: Beauty of mystic maple tree leaves exchange green leaves for vibrant reds.
Mist: Dreary October days, like gray storm clouds, cry in the sky.
Nuts: Scurrying squirrels go nuts again, it’s cold again like winter.
White: Winter winds blow white, wet snow, like a hungry child crying for food.
Ice: Skating on slippery ice, snowflakes sprinkle from the sky.
Night: Cool, chilly nights as our family sits around the fire enjoying a cup of hot chocolate.
Time: The thermostat turned, and everybody grabs the turtlenecks to stay warm.
Earmuffs: Earmuffs keeping our ears warm as the wind howls past us.
Reindeer: Staying up all night waiting to hear Santa’s reindeer reach the roof.
