The Death March
We trudge along down the road,
Our strength deserted,
Bearing the heavy load
Of our dead.
Pain punctures the gloom,
Screams of fear
As we descend into our tomb,
Death inevitable.
Chasms in the ground,
Dug up for us,
Never to be found
Forever.
Dominoes falling,
One by one
The remainders crawling
Through bodies.
Abandoned and alone,
The air teeming with death,
Hardly a moan
Among the many.
Memories faded,
Erased forever,
As if never created
Before.

Writing this piece was very important to me. It represents the struggles and loss of people in World War II, and it is a topic needed to be shared with the world.
