A Forgotten Queen
The letter I sent you
Was not what it seemed
Dripping with hope, garnished in gold
Inside something screamed
Open the letter
And here you will find
A short invitation
Into all of my mind
Lions and witches
Guard an old, creaky door
While goblins mop up crimson blood
Splattered amongst the floor
Dig a little deeper
And it somehow gets worse
As if my subconscious
Was brutally cursed
Never mind the blood,
The gore, the screams
The ghosts here are quiet
For all that it seems
And once you get past
My horror movie thoughts
There’s a small door in the back,
You may think you are lost
But Darling, don’t worry
I promise it’s safe
The door has no lock
And there will be no strafe
White light bursts through
And blinds your eyes
While your ears trickle blood
And your heart plans to hear goodbyes
But Darling, don’t panic
You haven’t seen it all
See this is the substance
That makes people fall
Fall back to the forest
The lions, the ghosts
So when they all retreat
My demons hold a toast
But you, you’re special
You didn’t even blink
You felt the blood trickle
And I forgot how to speak
You pushed past the light
And into the room
Where you stood before me
Then I felt my heart boom
You extended your hand
And raised me from the ashes
The demons jaws dropped
As they fell back on their a***s
We sprinted through the door
Still hand in hand
Back to the evil beings
That ruled over this land
Ghosts spat and yelled and cursed at our figures
Our sights were on survival, so we paid them no mind
Soon enough we reached the goblins
Who mopped up the bloody shoe prints we left behind
Behind us was blood but before stood the door!
My grip on you tightened as the witches screeched
My ears rang with the pitty I felt for their souls
For their fortress of solitude has finally been breached
The wooden doors creaked
As you pushed them wide
Streams of sunlight flooded my vision
You struggled to hold me as I ran to go hide
Golden rays illuminated your face
And you never looked more alive
The sun left warm kisses among my skin
I finally felt myself begin to thrive
Thrive in the warmth of the sun
And in the warmth of your love
We sat for what seemed like ages
Until we began to feel a shove
Destiny rushed us into eachothers arms
And she ripped us from the embrace just as fast
Our short amount of time together was impeccable
I just wish we were made to last
When I returned to the creaky doors
The Queens presence was immediately felt
The goblins and witches fell to their knees
And their frozen hearts began to melt
I regained my throne
Which I had never realized I lost
Turns out it was hidden in the ashes
And when returned was covered in frost
But tender love and care revitalized the throne
Yet I still felt your fingertips graze my skin
As I became accustomed as Queen of myself
Your memories made me let out a hidden grin
The witches asked me why I had seized my power
Though I had previously been so meek
I told them a king from another land
Had given me the courage to never again be weak
Because of you, The witches are kinder
The goblins are lively, the doors no longer creak
I am free to leave at any time I please
And the demons will no longer shriek
Thank you, my love
Your presence will surely be missed
The way you smothered me in sunshine
Will always be sealed in the form of our kiss
