DISTRACTED
I am not happy, only distracted.
I obsess over those with better lives than mine.
As I gawk at them through a screen,
I see my reflexion, and the greatness I could never achieve.
I am not happy, only distracted.
Late nights, bloodshot eyes, and debit card in hand,
I buy and buy and buy.
Merchandise that I open, observe, and never touch again.
It fills the void, but
The void stays evergrowing.
I am not happy, only distracted.
As my friends glorify me with their compliments,
They mask my eyes from my truth.
But I’ve taken my glasses off;
My truth lies in the mirror
I see my reflexion, the girl who could never be satisfied
with what she sees.
I am not happy, only distracted.
Daydreaming, living in a world where all is right
And my sacrifices have paid off.
However, my reality begs to differ.
My head is full of doubt,
Yet my heart is hollow.
