Nature's Art
The crunching of freshly fallen leaves underfoot.
The sound of the trickling waters of a nearby stream.
The sounds are soothing and therapeutic,
Like a beautiful classical musical composition.
Birds and other fauna can be heard
Singing along to the musical accompaniment,
Like a talented choir.
A breeze blows through the trees.
It chills your skin for a moment,
But the sun quickly warms you with its gentle, caring touch.
It stares down at you from the dark blue sky.
A parent watching over its beloved child.
Protecting it from harm.
Your nose is filled with many different aromas.
Blooming wildflowers,
Rain from the night before,
Fresh earth.
This menagerie of aromatic scents forms a fine fragrance.
A fragrance better than the finest French perfume.
Your eyes are engulfed in color.
Yellow flowers,
Green leaves,
Blue water.
Your eyes wander from each object to the next,
Like they are examining a piece in a museum.
A beautiful and numinous work of art.
For a small time,
Summer still lives on and preserves nature’s life,
But soon autumn will come.
It will slowly drain their life,
And the plants will die in their explosion of color.
However, it is only temporary.
For after winter has passed and spring has arrived,
New life will be imbued into the forest.
Nature’s artistic cycle begins once more.
