Sprouting from fertile ground,
Darkening a place once green,
To this land I am now bound.
What have you seen?
Whispers creeping on water,
Where life and death are between,
Where have you seen my daughter?

Shrivelled, browning, dying leaves,
Sunshine is a smokescreen,
My paper heart now grieves.

She’s only sixteen.
