I am from an electrifying life.

Strangers in and out of our open door,

sharing sweet, syrupy sounds that ricochet and pour

from the musicians coming and going, leaving an impact—

listening to their stories, my eyes run over their messy ink marks scrawled across the page—

feeling the pulse of their grumbling melodies, my heart fills with what it lacks.

I am from fighting to not disappoint,

Pressuring, worrying, and feeling stressed,

aware of the hot, heavy, hardness in my chest.

From learning to calm down and let go—

not letting my spiraling mind control the outcome,

learning to “be here, now” and “go with the flow.”

I am from an electrifying life.

Days blossoming, as interesting as the last.

Living a life of dauntless decisions that may appear rash,

but resenting to shy away from my one foremost goal:

to live in harmony with myself and the impact I leave

and to be sure to follow what is true to my soul.

I am from two creative minds

who strive to improve the world,

for ways to decorate the blank, pure page that life unfurled,

and blindly color the whiteness until a masterpiece is left,

a beautiful mistake, an unintentional treasure—

a result of their playful imagination, determination, and deftness.

sharing my time with those I love to the best of my ability.
