Rain
Standing in the kitchen
A shiver rushes down my spine,
Like a squirrel sprinting down a tree.
I hear the first crack of thunder.
Loud and booming,
Like a heartbeat.
The water falling down from the sky,
Furious at the ground.
As I take a deep breath in,
I feel my forehead
And neck soften,
As if a drop of rain has hit them with tranquility.
Total relaxation
Overcomes my body.
Standing in front of the door,
I see a bolt of lightning,
Followed by a bang of thunder.
As I step out,
The humid air touches my skin.
Standing in the rain,
As cars pass by,
I am completely carefree.
Standing here, time flies by.
As the wind goes from harsh and dangerous,
To a gentle breeze,
I feel my back tense up.
As the last moments of peace pass,
My thoughts and worries
Vanish.
