Tis the season
My rose cheeks and running nose become numb
As I walk across the fresh soft snowy path
The time of celebration I say to myself
I shake the snow off my boots before walking into the house
My mother is there to greet me with a warm mug of hot cocoa
Instantly feeling the mug turn the palms of my hands warm
The cracking of the wood in the fire soothes me
My family approached me from behind singing a soft melody
It’s my birthday
Today I am 16 years old
3 days after Christmas
3 days before New Years
The month of celebrations
